Frequently Asked Questions

While it is not possible to answer every single question for every scenerio, over the years, I have compiled a list of some of the more frequently asked questions along with my answers.

Are you available for my date?
This should always be the first question to ask. If an entertainer, is not available, there is no reason to ask any other question. To check my availability,

How much do you charge?
This is a difficult question to answer online. There are many variables involved when determining price (such as date, location, type of event and length of service desired). I have tried to simplify my pricing structure and a basic guideline can be found by
clicking here.

Always keep in mind: You usually get what you pay for. The cheapest price is not necessarily the best deal.

How much experience do you have?
I have been a professional Disc-Jockey since 1988, specializng in wedding receptions. Some of these receptions include ethnic variations such as Jewish, Italian, Irish, Polish and Latino to name a few. Wedding styles ranged from elegant and conservative to energetic and spirited—all at the request of brides and grooms.

Can you give me a list of references?
I could, but I prefer not to. In reality, when you receive a reference list from someone, you have no idea with whom you are speaking. For all you know, I can give you the name of my cousin.

If you really want to know what people have to say about a DJ, I suggest you call banquet managers, photographers, videographers, florists, cake bakers and other wedding professionals. These people get a chance to see everyone and can usually give you an unbiased opinion.

Can I watch you perform somewhere?
I regret to say that this is something I cannot do for three reasons

  1. Each function I do is private, I do not have the authority to invite other people.

  2. Because events are customized for the bride and groom, it is possible that you would visit a wedding with primarily Country & Western music when you are interested in Top 40.

  3. When I am at an event, I am concentrating on that event; I am not trying to sell the next event. This is, I am sure, a quality you would desire at your own wedding.

Can I meet with you personally before the wedding date?
Absolutely. I would not have it any other way.

Approximately thirty days prior to your wedding, I will contact you to schedule a meeting. I prefer to do this meeting in person; however, if you are from out of town, we can do it over the phone.

At this meeting, I have a standard set of questions that I will ask including the names of the bridal party, names of the parents, who will be doing the blessing, who will be doing the toast, cake cutting details, first dances, bouquet & garter, etc.

Do you have a tentative format as to what order the events of the reception should occur?
Yes. However, notice the word "tenative" in the question. There is an infinate array of options and variations available to you. It is for this reason that we meet thirty days prior to your reception to discuss all the details of how you would like your day to progress.

Do you dress appropriately?
Yes. The standard attire for most events is a full tuxedo. Of course, if requested, I can dress less formally.

Do you use professional equipment?
Yes. I use the following brands in my system:
Community, Behringer, Rane, and Numark.

Is set-up and tear-down included in the price?
Yes. I am a big fan of "no surprises." I will arrive at least one hour prior to your guests. This will give me ample time to set-up.

Is a gratuity included in the price?
No. A gratuity is not required, or for that matter, expected. At the end of the evening, if you feel a gratuity is warranted, I will graciously accept.

Do I need to provide you with a meal?
No. I appreciate the question; however, it is not required. In actuality, I am usually too busy to eat. I would not want you to pay for an unused meal.

Do you provide a written contract?
Absolutely. As I said in a previous question, I am a big fan of "no surprises." A written contract protects you; it puts everything in writing so you know exactly what you're getting and I know exactly what you want.
